Stapko is a semi modular set of didactic-sensory products, made of wood sticks interlaced with textile, and stiffened by various wood profiles. Stack's main purpose is to stimulate creativity and ensure wellbeing of preschool and school-age children.
When designing for kindergartens, the focus was placed on making the products that are engaging for the children, in order to create an environment that promotes creativity and cognitive, as well as physical, development. One of the repeating problems for most kindergartens is the lack of space, which is why it was important to develop a solution with multiple ways of use.
Another demand was to create the products out of sustainable materials, and that is why wood and textile were chosen.
Apart from the lack of space, one of the biggest challenges within kindergartens is the furniture that doesn't meet the needs of children. In order to address this, multifunctional elements were designed, that can be disassembled and reassembled as needed, providing the space for various activities. Therefore, Stapko was designed as a semi modular product intended to stimulate cognitive and motor development.
Since Stapko is designed for kindergartens and preschoolers, it needed to come in different sizes. Because of this, Stapko comes in three sizes, which are foreseen to be in three different rooms that the children move through while growing.
The system consists out of flexible modules made of series of rods connected by textile straps and stiffeners. The assembly is easy enough for children to do (younger ages with the help of their caretakers), and in this way develop their cognitive and motor skills.
"The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect, but by the play instinct."
